Retail & Ecommerce

Software for retailers, brands and ecommerce operations

Most ecommerce problems that look like technology problems are operations problems. The storefront converts fine; what breaks is everything that happens between the order being placed and the parcel arriving.

What makes this sector different

The constraints that actually shape the software

Every industry claims to be a special case. These are the ones that genuinely change how a system has to be designed.

  • 01

    Stock accuracy decides customer trust

An oversell costs you the order, the refund cost, and the customer. Stock held as a mutable number in two systems will drift, and the drift is discovered at picking.

  • 02

    Cash on delivery changes everything

In South Asian and Gulf markets COD dominates, and it brings partial prepayment, courier remittance reconciliation and RTO handling — none of which global platforms model properly.

  • 03

Courier APIs are the least standardised systems you will touch

Different formats, different auth, and status vocabularies that overlap without agreeing. Without normalisation, your tracking page and your operations team see different truths.

  • 04

Platform fees scale with revenue, margins do not

Transaction fees plus app subscriptions are trivial at low volume and a real line item at scale. At some point annual platform spend exceeds what the operational layer would cost to build.

  • 05

The exception queue is the real product

Orders that stall — payment pending, out of stock, failed delivery — are where money and customers are lost. Most systems have no view of them at all, so they are found when a customer complains.

What we build

For retail & ecommerce businesses

Not a capability list. These are things we have designed and built, which is why they are specific.

  • Order management as an explicit state machine with full history
  • Stock movement ledgers with reservation-based availability
  • Multi-location inventory with cycle counting and variance reporting
  • Pick, pack and dispatch workflow with barcode confirmation
  • Courier integration with rate shopping and normalised tracking
  • Cash-on-delivery reconciliation against courier remittances
  • Returns and RTO handling with condition grading
  • Operations layers that sit behind an existing Shopify or WooCommerce storefront

FAQ

Retail & Ecommerce — questions we get asked

  • Do we have to leave Shopify?

Almost never, and this is the most common conversation we have. Shopify is a good storefront and checkout. What it is weak at is multi-location inventory, warehouse workflow, regional courier integration and COD reconciliation. The usual engagement leaves the storefront alone and builds the operational layer behind it, syncing orders and stock — cheaper, lower risk, and it keeps the part that already works.

  • How do you prevent overselling?

Stock is modelled as an append-only ledger rather than a mutable number, and placing an order writes a reservation inside the same database transaction that checks availability, using row-level locking. Two simultaneous orders for the last unit cannot both succeed — one commits and the other is told at checkout, which is a much better outcome than at picking.

  • What does this cost against our current platform fees?

It depends where your losses actually are, and we quantify that during discovery rather than quoting an industry figure. The three that usually dominate are courier rate shopping, eliminated oversells, and removing manual courier data entry — all measurable against your real order volume before you commit to anything.
